Where can I watch the Premier League in the Netherlands?

Where can I watch Formula 1 in the Netherlands?

On Viaplay (€19.99 with ads or €21.99 without a month) or F1 TV Pro, which offers English Sky Sports commentary. Viaplay's rights move to Videoland once the takeover is approved.

Is the Champions League on free TV in the Netherlands?

Partly. Ziggo Sport Free shows matches of Dutch clubs and the finals for free. All matches need Ziggo Sport Totaal (€16.95 a month at Ziggo).

Will F1 move to Videoland in 2027?

Videoland is taking over Viaplay Netherlands including F1 rights until 2029. The ACM had not decided by 29 September 2026, and pricing and timing on Videoland have not been announced.

How to watch football, F1 and other sports in the Netherlands (2026/27)

Eredivisie is on ESPN, the Champions League on Ziggo Sport, and the Premier League, Formula 1 and PDC darts on Viaplay, which is being taken over by Videoland (DPG Media). Oranje and the World Cup are free on NPO 1. What each service costs, where you get English commentary, and what may change in 2027.

Short answer

As of 29 September 2026, for the 2026/27 season: the Eredivisie is on ESPN (rights until summer 2030, NOS); the Champions League, Europa League and Conference League are on Ziggo Sport, which extended its rights until 2030/31 (Ziggo Sport); the Premier League, Formula 1, Bundesliga and PDC darts are on Viaplay. Viaplay Netherlands is being taken over by Videoland (DPG Media); the ACM received the notification on 24 August 2026 and had not published a decision by 29 September (ACM). Until then nothing changes for subscribers. Matches of the Dutch national team, the Euros and the World Cup are free on NPO 1.

Where can you watch each sport in the Netherlands?

Each competition sits with one rights holder, so the service you need depends on what you follow. The overview for 2026/27:

How do you watch the Premier League and Champions League?

The Premier League is on Viaplay: in 2026/27 Viaplay shows almost every match, except one per round that is exclusive to Prime Video (Viaplay). You can subscribe to Viaplay directly, regardless of your TV provider, or get the Viaplay channel through some TV packages; see Premier League in the sports guide.

For the Champions League you need Ziggo Sport Totaal for every match. At Ziggo it costs €16.95 a month and can be cancelled monthly (Ziggo); the package is also sold by other TV providers. Without a subscription, Ziggo Sport Free in the Ziggo GO app shows matches of Dutch clubs and the finals (Ziggo). See Champions League in the sports guide.

Eredivisie: ESPN is now in Ziggo and DELTA packages

Ziggo added ESPN 1 to 4 to its TV packages on 1 July 2026 and DELTA on 7 September 2026, both for €2.50 a month extra. If you're with one of them, you don't need a separate ESPN subscription.

How do you watch Formula 1, and what changes in 2027?

Formula 1 is on Viaplay until the takeover by Videoland completes. Viaplay costs €19.99 a month with ads or €21.99 without, according to our Dutch overview of 29 September 2026. F1 TV Pro, Formula 1's own service, is also available in the Netherlands for €11.90 a month (Motorsport.com). Ziggo customers can watch via the Viaplay TV+ channel and the Viaplay app (Ziggo).

With the takeover, Videoland gets all running Viaplay contracts: Formula 1 until 2029, the Premier League until 2028, the Bundesliga until 2029 and PDC darts until 2032 (GPBlog, iCulture). How sport will be priced on Videoland has not been announced. Most reporting expects the switch before the 2027 F1 season starts in March 2027, but DPG Media has not confirmed a date.

Stay flexible

Until pricing on Videoland is known, prefer monthly subscriptions over annual ones, and pause services in the off-season. The Dutch article on the takeover is updated as news comes in.

Can you watch sports with English commentary?

Often, but it depends on the service and the match:

Formula 1: F1 TV Pro lets you choose the English Sky Sports commentary or other languages (Motorsport.com).
Premier League on Viaplay: big matches have Dutch commentary and studio coverage; for other matches the audio language varies, so check the match page in the app.
Champions League and Eredivisie: broadcast with Dutch commentary. Check the audio options in the app for each match before you subscribe for the English feed.
Your home country's service: within the EU, subscriptions from your home country keep working while you are temporarily here under the EU portability rules. That does not apply once you live here permanently, and UK or US services usually block Dutch viewers.

What does a full sports setup cost?

It depends on your provider and what you follow. Roughly, per month as listed on 29 September 2026: ESPN €2.50 extra in Ziggo and DELTA packages, Ziggo Sport Totaal €16.95 at Ziggo, Viaplay €19.99 to €21.99. Three ways to save:

Rotate subscriptions: the Premier League runs August to May, F1 March to December. Cancel monthly services in the off-season.
Don't pay twice for ESPN: if it's already in your Ziggo or DELTA package, skip a separate subscription.
Use what's free: national team matches, the Euros and the World Cup on NPO 1, and Dutch clubs in Europe via Ziggo Sport Free.
