Internet providers in the Netherlands explained: KPN, Ziggo, Odido, DELTA and budget brands

Which Dutch internet provider you can choose depends on the network at your address: fibre (KPN/Glaspoort, DELTA, Open Dutch Fiber), cable (Ziggo) or DSL (KPN's copper, being phased out). Short answer
The big home internet providers in the Netherlands are KPN, Ziggo, Odido and DELTA, plus budget brands that use the same networks. What you can choose depends on the cable in your street. Ziggo runs the cable network with speeds up to 2 Gbit/s (Ziggo). Fibre (glasvezel) is built by KPN and Glaspoort, DELTA and Open Dutch Fiber; on KPN/Glaspoort fibre you can choose from many providers. DSL runs over KPN's old copper network, which KPN is replacing with fibre and wants to switch off before 2030 (KPN). As of 29 September 2026, median prices for internet only in the first year are €35.58 (fibre), €34.03 (cable) and €23.50 (DSL) a month (Kiesbeter Internet Price Index, n = 434).
Why does your address decide which providers you can choose?
Because each provider can only sell internet over a network that physically reaches your home. The Netherlands has three kinds of fixed networks:
- Cable (kabel): the coaxial TV cable, owned by VodafoneZiggo. Internet over it is sold by Ziggo (and by Vodafone in combination with Ziggo). It is widespread in towns and cities.
- Fibre (glasvezel): a glass fibre line to your home. The KPN/Glaspoort network is open to many providers, including KPN, Odido and budget brands. DELTA has its own network and will also deliver over Open Dutch Fiber from early 2027 (DELTA).
- DSL: internet over the old telephone copper line. It is slower and is being replaced; see KPN switching off copper (in Dutch).

What are the main internet providers in the Netherlands?
Four large providers cover most homes, with budget brands on top. The table summarises what they say about themselves in English.

Three of these companies also run the country's three mobile networks: KPN, Odido and Vodafone. That matters because combining home internet and mobile with the same group earns a discount (see below). Budget mobile brands borrow one of these networks; Simyo, for example, uses KPN's (Simyo). Is fibre or cable better?
Fibre is slightly better technically; cable is usually good enough. Fibre offers equal upload and download speeds and low latency, which helps with video calls, uploading large files and gaming. Cable has faster download than upload, but Ziggo's top speeds of up to 2 Gbit/s are more than most households use.

Should you combine internet with mobile or TV?
Often yes, if several people in your household need a mobile plan. KPN, Odido and VodafoneZiggo give discounts when you combine home internet and mobile at the same address. VodafoneZiggo launched "One" in June 2026 with up to €20 a month off (VodafoneZiggo). How these discounts work is explained in Dutch telecom contracts explained. Compare the total, not the headline
A bundle discount only saves money if the mobile plan you need is not much cheaper elsewhere. Add up the monthly cost of both for the full contract period.

There is no single best one; it depends on which networks reach your address. Choose the network first (fibre or cable), then the provider with the best price and service on it.
Ziggo says it has an English-speaking team available 24/7. Odido's staff speak basic English and its app is in English. KPN's website is mainly Dutch, but its apps and TV box work in English.
Only if nothing else is available. DSL is cheaper per month but much slower, and KPN wants to switch off the copper network before 2030.
