Internet in Delft for expats: fibre, cable and providers (2026)

As of 29 September 2026: Delft has two fibre networks, KPN and Open Dutch Fiber (ODF). KPN started in Voorhof in September 2021 and now says 81% of Delft homes are connected; the last phase, about 13,700 homes in Tanthof and Buitenhof, began in February 2026. ODF built from November 2021 in Delft-West (Tanthof-West and -Oost, Buitenhof, Voordijkshoorn and Hof van Delft), more than 25,000 households. Both networks are open, so in Tanthof and Buitenhof you often choose from both. Ziggo has cable on about 90% of addresses (internetpostcodecheck.nl). Many international students live in DUWO housing, where internet is usually arranged for you.

Status as of 29 September 2026, checked against the sources at the end of this article. Fibre networks expand street by street and providers come and go; the address check for your own home always has the final word.

KPN covers almost the whole city and ODF covers Delft-West, so in Tanthof and Buitenhof the networks overlap.

On its Delft project page ODF puts its network at more than 25,000 households in Delft-West.

Most of it, but the figures differ depending on who counts. KPN reports 81% of homes on kpn.com, and in February 2026 Regionieuws reported that KPN was starting its final phase in Tanthof and Buitenhof. Internetpostcodecheck.nl arrives at a much lower 45% of addresses. KPN counts homes, the site counts addresses, and it isn't clear where the rest of the gap comes from. Only the address check settles it for your home.

KPN's roll-out took longer than planned: Voorhof was due in October 2022, but that schedule was not met, according to Delft op Zondag. ODF was ahead of KPN in Tanthof and Buitenhof.

Yes: according to internetpostcodecheck.nl, Ziggo cable reaches about 90% of Delft addresses. Only Ziggo sells internet over the cable network in Delft (Vodafone sells the same Ziggo internet with its mobile plans).

Downloads on cable are fast (up to 2 Gbit/sGigabit per seconde: 1000 Mbit/s. according to Ziggo), but uploads are much lower than on fibre, which matters for video calls and large uploads. See fibre or cable internet.

Usually not in an ordinary rental: there you arrange internet yourself. It is typically included in student rooms, shared houses, furnished short-stay apartments and buildings with a collective network, charged as service costs (servicekosten) at actual cost with an annual statement (Huurcommissie). The rules: internet included in your rent.

Many international students in Delft rent from DUWO, which has student housing in Delft among other cities (DUWO). DUWO says Ziggo supplies internet in a large share of its complexes; in some another provider does, and sometimes you arrange it yourself (DUWO). In old houses in the centre, tenants may need the landlord's or owners' association's permission before fibre can be activated (Delft op Zondag). Ziggo is the only large provider that says it has an English-speaking customer service team available 24/7; with the others you can manage in English, but most of their websites are in Dutch. What the providers say on their English pages:

Yes, but not with the usual 1- or 2-year deals. Odido Klik&Klaar costs €26 a month plus €20 one-off, gives up to 300 Mbit/sMegabit per seconde: de eenheid voor internetsnelheid. 8 Mbit/s is 1 MB per seconde. with unlimited data over Odido's 5G network and can be cancelled monthly (Odido, checked 29 September 2026). KPN offers fixed internet you can cancel monthly, from €45.50 a month in January 2026 but without the discounts of a longer contract (Keuze.nl).
