Internet in Eindhoven for expats: fibre, cable and providers (2026)

As of 29 September 2026: in Eindhoven, KPN runs the main fibre network and says 86% of Eindhoven homes are connected to it. That includes the network T-Mobile, Primevest and VolkerWessels built in Centrum, Strijp and Gestel between 2020 and 2022 (26,000 homes), which KPN took over in 2023. Because KPN's network is open, you choose from providers such as KPN, Odido, Youfone, Budget Thuis and Online.nl. Ziggo has cable on about 91% of addresses (providers.nl). Some addresses still have no fibre, so check yours. Many internationals working in the Brainport region can get help settling in from Holland Expat Center South.

Status as of 29 September 2026, checked against the sources at the end of this article. Fibre networks expand street by street and providers come and go; the address check for your own home always has the final word.

Mainly KPN's open fibre network, including the former Primevest network, plus Ziggo cable. Open Dutch Fiber doesn't list Eindhoven among its projects (ODF, checked 29 September 2026).

Some comparison sites mention a second, closed Odido network in parts of Eindhoven. We found no confirmation of this from the network companies themselves; Odido does sell over KPN's open network. Let the address check guide you.

Because the city started early. According to NLconnect, Eindhoven had fibre ambitions as early as 2003, and the first Dutch fibre-to-the-home connection was laid there about twenty years before 2022. The last big step was a 2020–2022 project in Centrum, Strijp and Gestel: 26,000 homes and about 1,150 small businesses, after which NLconnect called Eindhoven the first large Dutch city to be fully connected with fibre (NLconnect, June 2022).

In June 2023 KPN bought Primevest's fibre networks, 127,000 addresses in The Hague, Eindhoven and Rotterdam, and made them part of its open network (KPN, 19 June 2023). For residents of Centrum, Strijp and Gestel that meant more providers to choose from.

Yes: according to providers.nl, Ziggo cable reaches about 91% of Eindhoven addresses. Only Ziggo sells internet over the cable network in Eindhoven (Vodafone sells the same Ziggo internet with its mobile plans).

Downloads on cable are fast (up to 2 Gbit/s according to Ziggo), but uploads are much lower than on fibre, which matters for video calls and large uploads. See fibre or cable internet.

Usually not in an ordinary rental: there you arrange internet yourself. It is typically included in student rooms, shared houses, furnished short-stay apartments and buildings with a collective network, charged as service costs (servicekosten) at actual cost with an annual statement (Huurcommissie). The rules: internet included in your rent.

Many internationals in Eindhoven start in furnished apartments arranged through an employer or relocation agent; these often include internet. If the fibre box is already in your home, you only need to pick a provider on KPN's open network.

Ziggo is the only large provider that says it has an English-speaking customer service team available 24/7; with the others you can manage in English, but most of their websites are in Dutch. What the providers say on their English pages:

Yes, but not with the usual 1- or 2-year deals. Odido Klik&Klaar costs €26 a month plus €20 one-off, gives up to 300 Mbit/s with unlimited data over Odido's 5G network and can be cancelled monthly (Odido, checked 29 September 2026). KPN offers fixed internet you can cancel monthly, from €45.50 a month in January 2026 but without the discounts of a longer contract (Keuze.nl).

A provider that is "available in Eindhoven" is not necessarily available in your street.
